It’s an update for 2021.

Is it too late to say ‘Happy New Year’? Ten days. It might be.

Hello everybody, hope you’re all doing well.

Two months and a few weeks have passed since my last post on here, but I haven’t forgotten about you one bit. If you look at the top, I’ve added a page where you can find a list of all the artists/bands/groups that I’ve written about so far. I thought it would make things a bit more easier to find. And you’ll be able to see the not-so-great way I used to write when I was 18-20 years of age.

The Amazon links to songs have been updated in a large majority of the posts so that they direct you to the US store rather than the UK one. I’ve noticed that more of my readers are from the United States, and I don’t think they want to pay in a foreign currency. That is, if you want to pay for any of the songs I talk about on here at all. It’s your decision.

I’m keeping well. Nearing the end of last year, I started a new job. Hooray for me. I’ve settled into it pretty well now. What it is, you ask? I make subtitles for TV shows and films. That’s right. Next time you’re watching something on Disney+ or Netflix, those words at the bottom may have been written by yours truly. I like words. It’s the perfect job for me, I would say.

I’ll come back to this blog soon. I have to. I started it with a purpose in 2013 and I’ve got to keep to it. With this job, it may take a while. But it will return.

Thanks for your patience. Hello to the new followers too! I see you.

Jamie.

So…. it’s been a while.

I think the time’s come to dust the cobwebs off this place. As you can see I’ve changed the layout. It doesn’t look too bad, does it? The ‘Twenty Sixteen’ theme if anyone wants to know.

Hi, hello, what’s going on? My last post on here is dated the 6th August 2015. I think I remember stating in that blog that this place would go on a hiatus, and almost two years later I feel that the time has finally come for the break to end – now that I’ve finally finished university and gained some work experience along the way.

To the 50 followers who I somehow still have on here. Thanks for holding out. You probably forgot this existed anyway. To anyone new who’s just stumbled upon this, Hi! The name’s Jamie. I could do a post detailing to a tee everything that has happened to me in the 23 months I’ve been away from here. I won’t do that. Instead, I’ll shorten it into three main points. These may still take up a large majority of the page.

Pretty much after my last post, I worked at world music magazine Songlines for a year. It was fun and very valuable. Never really worked before, but I’m glad I ended up working there. Got an album review published, actually interviewed an artist, got to go to Glastonbury for free. Was very sweet. Was needed that I got some proper office experience down on the CV, you know?

What then followed was a month’s holiday in the USA with my two good friends on a route of Orlando – Miami – Chicago – LA – San Francisco – New York, with a little road-trip up the West Coast betwene LA and San Fran. That was a trip…. We’ll leave it at that.

My final year of university started last September. Ended in May. A month of waiting for final results passed. I guess you’ll be pleased to know that you’re reading the words of a first class English graduate right here. Yeah. I know, right? Didn’t expect it. Chuffed is the word to say the least.

And that’s all from me. A lot of people didn’t make it to this day. But it’s here. I hope I can keep up the rate I had when I was last here. 22 now, time is passing.

‘My iPod’ shall come back. I’ll try and throw in some new things here and there too. Anything that can get me writing properly again. Ooh actually, I did write a blog for a module I had to do concerning how to be confident when delivering a presentation? You can have a look at that if that tickles your fancy.

Update.

It is September. The sky gets more grey day after day, the temperature decreases, the leaves turn from a bright, tropical green to a rusty brown. The end of another year looms upon us. Change is coming, yet everything around us is changing as the clock ticks.

What am I talking about? I am not really sure myself. Some stream of consciousness for you right there.

Seriously though, how are you all doing? Hope you’ve all had a good summer. You followers may be wondering what I was doing in the month that I’ve been away from here. I can honestly say that I did not get up to anything much. Am I disappointed? Yeah. I saw my friends occasionally which was cool, but didn’t partake in anything that made me feel useful. Spent a lot of the holiday in my house listening to music, generally. But overall, I am well. That is really all that matters.

Blogs will start again soon, I promise you. Been thinking of doing one one the fifth year anniversary of The Beatles 09/09/09 remasters. Though I haven’t prepared for it, or started a draft. But that should be a good one. “My iPod” should follow soon after. How soon? I can’t answer that. But the F’s will come.

Cheers.

Jamie

Update: What’s up?

Short answer: Took a break from blogging for a while. Got ill in that time. Not feeling very good as I type now, but I feel like my followers need an explanation.

Long answer: Hi everyone. Boy, it’s been a while since I put anything on here. The last you heard anything from me was that Parquet Courts first impression thing. Whether people liked that or not I don’t know. But it’s since then that I had no idea what else to write about, so the blog’s been a bit empty for a while. For you guys that follow me on Twitter, you may have noticed that I went to the Parklife Weekend Festival in Manchester. “How was it?” I hear you ask. Pretty cool. It was my first festival that I’ve ever been to, and I got to spend it to with two of my greatest friends from secondary school and a whole bunch of his uni mates.

If you want to go to a festival, bear these things in mind: Almost everyone is on drugs. But a lot of people are very friendly. In fact, I had a random chat with a man who was disappointed in Snoop Dogg (who had headlined the first day) for ‘selling out’ and making music for the monetary gain. That was something, I tell you. But things can get fucked up. A person died a few days after being attacked just as Snoop’s set started. Stay safe, and mind where you go.

Also, it can get very muddy. So, like me, don’t assume that the weather is going to be nice because there is a great chance that it won’t be. You will suffer the consequences. I certainly did. Wellington boots are essential. And shorts too.

Saw a whole bunch of artists: Snoop Dogg, Danny Brown (who was probably my favourite, that guy is a crazy mofo), Pusha T, Jon Hopkins, Disclosure, Hannah Wants and a whole bunch of other random DJs whose names I can’t remember. Overall, ’twas a good weekend. Got videos on my phone which I can’t put on Twitter or here, so…. whatever.

That all changed on the train back to uni from Manchester. It got very hot; I felt like I was dying. Been suffering with the flu ever since. And that is why I haven’t made much effort to say anything until now.

Now that I have updated ya? You may want to know what will happen next? Well, I suppose the thing my blog runs on the most is “My iPod” for which the ‘D’ section finished ages ago in May. That will come back. If I’m absolutely better on Monday, it will start then. If not, I’ll try the Monday afterwards. That’s when the “E” section starts, yay.

That’s a daily thing so there probably won’t be any random posts about other things in that time. I’m also watching the World Cup, so that may affect stuff too.

Nice speaking to ya again 😀

jamie.

Exams……. Yeah.

Hi everybody.

Been quite a while since my last update.

This exam period gone so quickly, now I only have three left.

I have no idea how I’ve done so far. I think I’ve done okay, but there’s never been a point where I have been laughing in my head at how easy an exam has been.

OH A-LEVELS, WHY? WHHHHYYYY?

On the 17th June I finish, and then ‘My iPod’ comes back. Unless I forget I something. But it will be an epic start to ‘B’. Yes.

I’ll talk to you guys soon, only two more weeks. Two more weeks…..

Jamie.
